Canarywood [Centrolobium spp., family Leguminosae] is avery beautiful and colorful turning wood from tropical America, Canarywood has gorgeous figure and a wide range of yellow to red hues. It is an ideal turning wood and takes a great finish. It is also ideal for pyrography*, seen here in the bands around the turning.
*Pyrography or pyrogravure is the free-handed art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated objecy.
