This display bowl has been turned from a highly prized form of African Mahogany, Sapele. It is a gorgeous turning wood, with beautiful soft golden brown color and subtle figure. It is made especially beautiful by an outstanding iridescence, or more accurately, chatoyance, a beautiful optical reflection found in certain gemstones and woods. The edge has been highlighted by a ring of finely shaved brass, pressed into a cyanoacrylate glue, and gives a bright golden appearance.
