This bowl has been turned from Canarywood [Centrolobium spp., family Leguminosae] a beautiful and colorful turning wood from Tropical America. The heartwood has a wide range of colors, including a dramatic yellow, which give the wood its name. There are also many hues of red and brown and a swirling grain the creates dramatic mixtures. This turning has a perfect ogee profile, which seems especially revealing of the wood's grain. Canarywood is an ideal turning wood and takes a great finish.
