This bowl has been turned from Camphor Burl, [Cinnamomum camphora], a truly extraordinary burl wood, coming mainly from Southeast Asia, Vietnam in particular. With a rich, reddish primary color—and others swirling—Camphor Burl is most notable for its amazing figure, rivaling that of even the most impressive burl woods from around the world. This turning has a distinctive ogee profile, made famous in woodturning by my mentor, Bert Marsh.
