These two woods are among my very favorites in combination. Cocobolo Rosewood is a gorgeous, highly figured, and wonderfully colored member of the family Dalbergia; originating in tropical America, it is sometimes referred to as the "Queen of the Rosewoods." Maple Burl [Acer negundo (family:Aceracea)] is an extraordinary turning wood, varying highly in color, figure, and spalting (the formations that often give burl distinctive patterning), as well as degrees of bark and other enclosures.
