This bowl has been turned from Sapele(African Mahogany) [Entandrophragma cylindricum], a tropical African wood that has beautiful soft golden brown color and subtle figure. It is made especially beautiful by an outstanding iridescence, or more accurately chatoyance, a beautiful optical reflection found in certain gemstones and woods.
The central inlay is ground brass and Cocobolo Rosewood, often call the Queen of the Rosewoods, and is found in tropical America.
