Vessel turned from Australian Gold Mallee Burl, with inlaid Cocobolo Rosewood and African Blackwood finia

November 11, 2020

This vessel has been turned with loving care from three of the most beautiful (and costly!) woods I work with: Gold Mall Burl (Australia), Cocobolo Rosewood (tropical American), and African Blackwood. It is an international ensemble of beauty! All woods are extremely dense (weighing more than water), and the Australian burls are notoriously hard and tend to grab turning tools. Even to hollow out about half the interior of the vessel is enormously challenging. I think this is an heirloom quality woodturning.
