This twig vase has a novel design, and is ideal for small dried arrangement, especially grasses and fall foliage that has stems. The Buckeye Burl base is a dramatic example of the wood and its intense figure (which derives from the minerals absorbed by this root burl when underground and which oxidize into the wild patterns seen here). African Blackwood is the premier detail wood available to woodturners: it is very dense and heavy, and moderately oily, which permits exceptionally fine cuts by turning tools. It is a true Rosewood (i.e., member of the family Dalbergia).
