The hollowed Mexican Rosewood (Bocote) vessel has been suspended between an African Blackwood finial base and taller finial crown. The dramatic figure and color of the Mexican Rosewood (not actually a true member of the rosewood family) is highlighted by the extreme darkness of the beautiful African Blackwood (a true rosewood--a member of the family Dalbergia). Finial turning takes patience, sharp tools, and an ideal turning wood. African Blackwood is the premier detail wood available to woodturners.
