Suspended hollow form turned from Claro Walnut, with base and finial of African Blackwood

July 14, 2020

Claro Walnut, the wood from which I've turned the hollow form, comes primarily from Oregon and California. It is a subspecies of the Walnut we are familiar with from furniture making, and tends to have richer, more varied color as well as more dramatic figure. African Blackwood is the premier detail wood available to woodturners, and is ideal for the delicate work of turning finials.
