This small bowl has been turned from a perfect piece of Claro Walnut, a distinctive sub-species of the common Walnut  [Juglans nigra] we typically see in furniture. Claro Walnut—of which this is a superb example—is typically much more highly figured, a beautiful, richly colored wood that works well with other woods and by itself.
