Sculptural form turned from Red Mallee Burl (Australia)

This sculptural form has been turned from a spectacular "cap" of Red Mallee Burl (Eucalyptus socialis). The Mallee Burls are truly gorgeous burl woods from Australia; they are actually all from different species of Eucalyptus. They have fantastic figure and color, and Red Mallee Burl may be the most dramatic. One of the great turning woods of the world, it is quite expensive and difficult to work (it is extremely hard). But the expense and effort are well worth it!
