Sculptural form Turned from Gold Mallee Burl cap (Australia) No.2

October 19, 2020

Various species of Eucalyptus trees in Australia grow numerous "burl caps," growths on the trunk that can be harvested without damaging the tree. They are spectacular wood for the turner: beautiful figure, gorgeous colors, and perfect for preserving the natural edge of the burl cap. This is an especially fine example of Gold Mallee Burl and would be considered of medium small size. The finish taken by this extremely hard, heavy wood is magnificent.
