Sculptural form turned from Australian Red Malle Burl

October 3, 2021

The sculptural form here has been turned from Australian Red Mallee Burl (Eucalyptus socialis), one of the most beautifully colored and figured of all the world's turning woods. It is extremely heavy and dense, one reason it takes such a fabulous finish. I have deliberate left a large amount of the rough outer part of the burl slice to give the piece a strong sense of natural edge. The stand holding the turning in the first photo is included with the purchase. The various Mallee burls come from different species of Australian Eucalyptus trees.

8.5" at its widest diameter (6" at its narrowest); 2.5" high
