This gorgeous burl wood is from Vietnam and increasingly in demand--for good reason. It has not only a warm cinnamon color, but tapestry-like figuring. It turns well and take a fine finish. This particular turning blank had a small drying crack--not that unusual, and here it has been delicately filled with copper power and cyanoacrylate glue to become a point of interest in the turning. It is visible in the third photo below. The profile is perfect for hollow form turning, in which virtually all the interior wood is removed to leave a very light vessel.
