Claro Walnut [Juglans nigra], which comes primarily from Oregon, is a distinctive sub-species of one of the preeminent hardwoods of North America. Claro has richer, deeper, and more varied colors and typically much more figure—swirls, iridescence, even burly qualities. The wood is moderately dense and fine-grained.
