This display piece has been turned from Red Mallee Burl (Eucalyptus socialis), a truly gorgeous burl wood from Australia, it is actually from a species of  Eucalyptus. It has fantastic figure and color. One of the great turning woods of the world, it is quite expensive and extremely hard and difficult to work. But the expense and effort are well worth it!
