This display bowl (stand included) is distinguished by a particular technical achievement: the inlaying of fine-grained brass shavings in a perfect circle in the upper rim of the bowl. Sapele itself is a gorgeous African wood with golden color, fine figure and magnificent chatoyance, is a beautiful optical reflection found in certain gemstones and woods. The brass inlay--entailing a very labor intensive technique!--complements all the feature of the Sapele and gives the turning a highly distinctive character.
