This bowl with a detailed rim and classic ogee profile has been turned from Padauk [Pterocarpus soauxii (family: Leguminosae)], one of the most strikingly colorful of all the world’s woods. Its dramatic ogange will mellow somewhat toward a golden/brown orange. The wood is sometimes a challenge to work with, but takes a fantastic finish, revealed in the turning here. The wood's figure, with slashes and ribbons of black. highlight its fabulous color.
