This bowl is a wonderful example of must how fine a turning wood Claro Walnut (from Oregon) can be. The colors are a richer and the wood has a wider color palette than that of the Walnut we're familiar with from furniture-making, with many different hues of brown and black. And the figure is just extraordinary--almost burl-like in quality, so various are the swirls and patterns of color.
The walls of the bowl have been turned to a consistently thin dimension, so the turning has a very light feel. The classic ogee profile is perhaps my favorite for bowls of these dimensions.
